Cedar Crest Academy participates in the Salmon in the Classroom Program which is offered through the Michigan DNR. In October, we receive 300 salmon eggs and raise them throughout the year. The students monitor the water temperature, pH, Ammonia, Nitrite, and Nitrate. They observe the salmon as they hatch at the end of November into sac fry, and grow throughout the year into small fry. In May 2009, we released 12 salmon fry into the Clinton River. We will continue the program in October 2009 with 300 new salmon eggs.
