CCA Achievements
- The Stanford Achievement Test is a standard of excellence in measuring student progress. The group assessment is an objective measure of achievement and higher-level thinking, providing data to evaluate progress in meeting content standards and individual goals. Cedar Crest Academy evaluates in May of the school year, Kindergarten through grade 8.
- 2006-2007:
- Comparing CCA students and classes to students in our nation, the school achieves better than 83 of any 100 students.
- Kindergarten, grades 3, 5, 7, and 8 scored above 85th percentile on the Complete Battery. The Complete Battery includes all academic subtests. Cedar Crest Academy Kindergarten students scored at the 91st percentile on the Complete Battery.
- The Total Mathematics scores for Cedar Crest Academy students exceeded 80th percentile in all grades. Kindergarten, grades 2, 3, 5, 7, and 8 exceeded 90th percentile, in Mathematics.
- Total Reading scores at Cedar Crest Academy were above 85th percentile in Kindergarten, grades 3, 4, 5, 7, and 8.
- The Thinking Skills subtest, tested in grades 3-8, averaged 87th percentile.
- Midwest Academic Talent Search (MATS) is a program from Northwestern University's Center for Talent Development offering above-grade-level testing for academically talented students in grades 3-9. MATS is a well-respected program model, in gifted education, that supports exceptional student ability and educational planning.
- 50% of grade 3 students qualified for the Midwest Talent Search in 2007. (Attained a ≥97th percentile on verbal, math or composite score or subscore on a nationally normed, standardized achievement, aptitude or abilities test.)
- 43% of 4th and 5th grade students qualified for the Midwest Talent Search in 2007. (Attained a ≥95th percentile on verbal, math or composite score or subscore on a nationally normed, standardized achievement, aptitude or abilities test.)
- 69% of Middle School students qualified for the Midwest Talent Search in 2007. (Attained a ≥95th percentile on verbal, math or composite score or subscore on a nationally normed, standardized achievement, aptitude or abilities test.)
- The Presidential Physical Fitness Text recognizes students for their level of physical fitness in five events: curl-ups, partial curl-ups, shuttle run, endurance run/walk, pull-ups, right angle push-ups, and V-sit, sit and reach.
- 2006-2007:
- 18% of the CCA student body met or exceeded the highest level earning a Presidential recognition. They scored at or above the 85 percentile in all five tested elements.
- 41% of the CCA student body met or exceeded the National Fitness Level, which is scoring at or above the 50 percentile in all five tested elements.
- The National French Contest, Le Grand Concours, is an annual international competition where students studying French in grades 1-12 compete. Students take a written test focusing on listening and reading comprehension. Scores are ranked against students with similar educational backgrounds.
- 2006-2007:
- Le Grand Concours (7th-8th grades):
- 50% of participants placed in honors (above the 50% on the national level)
- 50% of participants placed in high honors (80% and above on the national level)
- 100% of participants received honors
- 33% of participants were national winners (90% and above on the national level)
- Le Grand Concours FLES (2nd-6th grades):
- 71% of participants placed in honors (above the 50% on the national level)
- 10% of participants placed in high honors (80% and above on the national level)
- 81% of participants received honors
- 6 students were placed on Le Tableau d'Honneur, the national honor roll which recognizes the highest students in each testing level
- The Congressional Youth Leadership Council© offers educational leadership conferences for an elite group of outstanding youth across the country, whose nomination provides them with unmatched enrichment opportunities in a distinguished national environment. The Junior National Young Leaders Conference© division helps scholars develop and sharpen their leadership skills by examining the leaders of the past and empowering them to make a positive social impact in the community and the world.
- 6 middle school students have accepted the nomination to attend these conferences in the past year.
- FIRST LEGO© League is a world wide organization that challenges students to learn programming, robotics construction and innovative problem solving techniques. They create challenges for students to solve with LEGOS©, robotics and research.
- 2006-2007:
- Cedar Crest Academy's team was awarded first place for the Presentation Award at the Junior Game Competition Division during Robofest 2007.
